Lorna in Action... An introduction to LORNA D. SHELDON A.L.A.M., I.T.C.lct. Managing Director of the Complete Works (International) Limited. Lorna is a qualified public speaker with 21 years’ experience both in speaking herself and in the development of others. Lorna has won a Midlands Excellence in Marketing Award, was runner up in the National Business Woman of the Year contest. In 2000 she was voted Network Midlands Business Woman of Achievement. Writing is also added to her list of achievements. Lorna has written monthly for a U.K. magazine for 5 years. |

Lorna’s career path has been exciting and rewarding. Her early career saw her taking over and running an engineering company in crisis, taking it from the brink of disaster to a successful and profitable company. Joining the Foundation for Conductive Education as their National Funding Director, she was personally responsible for raising the sum of £1.5 million in 12 months (1988). Headhunted for the position of Chief Executive at Birmingham City 2000 (now Birmingham Forward), Lorna took the early development of this organisation towards greater and wider acknowledgement of the professional and financial service companies in Birmingham; her role to promote Birmingham U.K. both nationally and internationally. Lorna left Birmingham City 2000 to set up her own company in 1991, concentrating on public speaking and presentation skills coaching. This company is known as The Complete Works (International) Limited. With 15 coaches now on board, CWI offers high-level professional training programmes to all business sectors plus universities and schools. These programmes include Public Speaking and Presentation, Business Relationships, Media and Television, Sales, Negotiation, Effective Meetings, Networking and Event Management, Customer Care, Telephone Skills and Call Handling, Business Strategy and Finance Planning. Clients in the UK include BT, Lloyds TSB, 3M UK, Mitsui & Co UK, Powergen, Barclays Bank plc, WH Smith, Glaxo Smithkline, Deloitte & Touche, Canada Life Assurance, Halfords, Oxford University and many more well known names. Largest overseas client is The Henkel Group. On a number of occasions it has not been unusual for Lorna to be working with people from as many as 30 difference countries in one session and where English is a second language to the majority. You can be a virtual delegate on one of her recent courses (April 2005) and see and hear everything that goes on during a real-time 5+ hour two disc DVD set. Taken with two video cameras and some hand-held close-ups, the DVD gives you a real sense of sitting at the side as the whole day's activities unfold. This is a 'fly-on-the-wall' recording of all the information, the exercises and practise techniques. You'll see the other delegates struggle and succeed as they go through an actual real-life day's training. The DVDs are PAL or NTSC format and will run on most modern DVDs and all laptops.
