Never in the field of human
conflict…. We will fight them on the beaches… Cometh the hour,
cometh the man….Great speakers, go on great training courses.
-
A refreshing change to presentation
and communication skills.
-
A well constructed professional
course, the pace of delivery was just right.
-
I had serious doubts about attending
this course but I found it both extremely enjoyable and
effective. I will certainly attempt to practice the skills I
have learnt today and will attempt to improve areas identified
for further improvement. I do feel that if all attendees had
turned up the group would have been too big so was perfect.
-
Great opportunity to refresh
learning from a few years ago. Hopefully it will make me more
effective in the future.
-
Good use of practical techniques
which are simple enough to practice at home.
-
I would like to know more about ITC,
does the website include details about ITC?
-
Liked the video elements, other
stuff could be pre-course.
-
“A real eye- opener into
presentation techniques.”
-
“It’s all in the balls.” *
-
The best practice for something we
don’t like is to get up on your feet in a ‘safe’ environment and
encourage colleagues
Note for item 36 - Refers to a technique
to encourage the use of interactive hand gestures…!
COLIN
ROSS – HEAD OF CORPORATE BUSINESS CENTRE - BT
“
I used the techniques at my conference and they worked brilliantly.
I probably delivered the most inspirational keynote speech of my
career and enjoyed doing it.”
CHRIS DOWNING -
BUSINESS INTERNET ROLL-OUT MANAGER - CORPORATE CLIENTS
I
first met Lorna in 1999, when I was managing BT’s roll-out of all
their business internet products to their corporate clients
division. This division had 1000 salespeople, 5000 of the biggest
accounts and client boards to communicate with. I also had a whole
PR and briefing programme to complete ASAP. I found Lorna through
the staging company we were using for the business shows. The last
of these was for 350 business Directors that came from the UK’s
biggest corporates. Lorna helped me stage this show, write the
scripts and practise everyone available before the actual event (me
mostly!). The event was a huge success and opened the way to
greater successes with much heavier commitment from the Directors of
BT who witnessed what Lorna had helped me create.
After
only a few hours with Lorna, Mike Langston, Managing Director of
BT’s £3 billion SME division, told me that he thought I was the best
BT speaker he’d ever seen. I subsequently created a BT video of how
to create the speeches and make presentations to client Directors –
so I hope you excuse my enthusiasm for Lorna’s work – but I think
you’ll be able to see why after reading all this.
Lorna
has continued to help me develop my speaking skills both inside and
outside of BT and more recently I accepted fee-paying work as a
conference and workshop host in Singapore, Amsterdam, Frankfurt and
Berlin. Throughout this time I have been using and developing Lorna
Sheldon’s ideas and methods until they have become my own and fully
internalised.
Her
approach is both simple and powerful. By adopting a template of
skill development, techniques and methods I have watched every
delegate (including myself) quickly become hugely more effective as
speakers and communicators. You’ll notice an improvement within a
few hours. Practise her techniques for weeks and you’ll become one
of the most effective speakers around. I hope you can find the time
to let Lorna help you. In using her material and developing new
skills, I’ve met with people I’d have never expected to meet, and
I’ve seen some places I’d have never expected to visit – and I got
paid! I hope you have the same experiences.
ROBERT TAYLOR – MANAGING DIRECTOR DISTRIBUTION –
POWERGEN UK
“The ability to confidently and effectively
communicate in business and
organisations
is an essential ingredient for success. I have worked with Lorna in
building and improving these skills for my leadership team and
personally. I have seen the results of effective public speaking and
can recommend Lorna as an excellent coach.”
SUZI HOWARD – DEVELOPMENT AND SUCCESSION PLANNING MANAGER – W.H.
SMITH
"The
particular benefit of The Complete Works over other training
providers is Lorna’s ability to focus on individual needs – whether
it is confidence-building for inexperienced
presenters or more focused rehearsals for senior and accomplished
speakers.
Lorna’s
impressive background and gravitas make her particularly suitable
for coaching our most senior directors and we have received
excellent feedback from all the groups and individuals she has
trained."
Sarah Hammer, a delegate on one of these courses, adds, "I
wanted to thank you for my road to Damascus experience last week at
W.H.S.
Head Office. The feedback was a revelation and will equip me well
for my future Presentations to the Board….”
THE PROFESSIONAL SPEAKERS
ASSOCIATION –
EUROPEAN CONVENTION
Quote
from Phil Ingle – Director of Eye to the Future
“Just a quick note to say how much I enjoyed your
session at the PSA Convention. Really practical and enjoyable and,
of course, presented by someone who Walks the Talk ………”
Quote from Phil Brand – Consultant and Speaker
“It
was great to meet at the Convention. Thank you for sharing some of
your insights, I found your session to be extremely valuable.”
Muhammad Naeem Akhtar,
Zurich Life, Dubai
“It was worth
attending this session. The methods and techniques used by the trainer were
very practical which has helped me a lot in improving different aspects of
giving a professional presentation.”
This is what BT said about the
courses in their internal staff magazine recently
Fear of Presenting Subsiding?
Presenting tends to be unavoidable in so many of the roles we do
in BT, whether its to the customer, to management or just your
team.
The fear of
standing up and talking seems to be firmly instilled for so many of
us and nobody's really sure why. However, things are starting to
change across Enterprise…HOW? I hear you cry…
Jane Noad, project manager in the People
Development channel has been co-ordinating sessions with Complete
Works International's Lorna Sheldon to run
"Presenting at the Top " It has been rolled out to sales consultants
and managers across Business Direct, Versatility, Events and
Enterprise Technologies The course approached topics such as
Voice-Projection, Intonation and Speed, and Body Language - whilst
presenting
Nerves - how to deal with them and different methods of controlling
e.g. breathing. Lorna also looked at preparation, writing, and
studying participants' existing styles and methods they could
implement, to improve.
The course clearly went down a storm...!
Deborah Williamson commented "This
course was invaluable. I couldn’t believe the level of improvement
in such a short time period."
Mark
Fountain's feedback was "This was
a thoroughly enjoyable course that has helped me not only in
business but also helps with social situations."
Simon
Lowe commented "I think the
course taught me a lot about my style pre-event & how to improve it.
This helps with confidence & hopefully reduce nerves. As with
everything, practise is the key. Well worthwhile course"
With such
positive feedback, it appears that the workshops are adding
tremendous value across the business.
Keep your eyes peeled for the next set of dates
